take you to a place that you could've hardly imagine

As you might know the company I work for (not mentioning because of google alerts) is opening a store in London. And I design the hoarding/barricade that is going up while constructions. I which we didn't have to put up the regulation tag from Regent street. But oh well. I am super excited. They are 2 feet tri-dimensional letter cover with tyveck! We used the tyveck to create texture and other things soon to come!





I am so excited about this guy!!!! Does anybody knows of any good photographer in London that I can commission to take good pictures of this?

PRINTING THE EPHEMERA

For the past few months I have been thinking of how bad it is that our generation doesn't send loves letter or just letters by mail anymore. All our communications are done throw email, ichat, facebook, myspace or twitter. Most of it lives in the web. The only tangible place were you can keep all this information is on a hard drive. What happens if it breaks? As a result of the fear of losing my written memories I started a project which consists of printing the emails trails between me and peter. I selected June, July and August to start because apparently we email the most on those months. Maybe email also likes the warm weather. Each month will be color separated as shown on the pictures. And they would be perfect bound by trimesters. It would be an ongoing project but I will be happy to have my online ephemera printed. Here is the first piece of the project:

81 MILES....

I love to see the fall bring us the winter. This is a little zine I made with all the pictures that I took during my different trips to go see the peter. It goes through the sunny beautiful days in the beginning of fall to the gray depressing but also beautiful day in the beginning of winter. I made it as a gift for the peter.





Also, today is Amy's birthday and that deserves a shout out in this blog. I like this picture a lot and even though you can't fully see her face in it, it was the picture that got pick to represent her birthday!! Happy Birthday!!! we have been best friends for 8 to 9 years now.

On the subject of art, Manifesta 7 was two weekends ago, it took place in Bolzano, Fortezza, Trento, Roverto -- in the South Tyrolian mountains of northern Italy. Here is an interview with the main curator, Adam Budak, that talks about the different approach that the european contemporary art fair had this year. I wish I could understand better what he is saying, sound really interesting but is hard for a person that english is their second language to understand a person that english is their second language as well. It might seem logical that the communication between two non english speakers would be easier but it is not the case. Any ways here it is, maybe you can translate it for me:

the whole sale brand is having it's presentation during fashion week in NYC on September. and we are on the Mercedes bend's list therefore we had to do 1,200 invitation. Carolyn had this idea of making invitation that look that were dip on with water. And kate found this amazing resin that looks great. Take a look on how it all happen.

Words

For the past two months I have been collecting new words. I go back and forth about if I want to fix my broken english or if I should just embrace it. For the most part, I just think words are fascinating and interesting.

here is how it works:
1_I hear/learn/or I am told a new word
2_I google it (specifically google image). google is definitely the new encyclopedia
3_I collage all the images that I find and think are interesting
4_I then do a little poster or more like a guide reference of the definition/function/etymology/sentence
5_And then I learn

so here they are, at least the good ones so far. And please if there is a word you think a dominican girl living in philly should know, don't hesitate to tell me.
