THE PRICE OF SUGAR

So many things that I remember:

the food vouchers,

the helicopter coming and my grandpa not coming home for lunch,

the help needed for the sick people,

my grandpa not necessarily agreeing with how some things were done,

me playing at a gated neighborhood of 13 houses that were surrounded by bateys,

el ingenio Cristobal Colón where the sugar cane from Los Llanos was transform into refine sugar.

What I realize now, is how blind I decided to be then.

Even though I was 11—15 years old back in my mind I knew that the price of sugar is too much to pay.

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE

I just got back from a screening for the movie Where The Wild Things Are. It made me laugh, giggle, howl, and cry. It made it ok to feel like a child still when you are 26. Watch it without expectation. But watch as soon as it comes out on October 16th.
