ARTIST VS CURATOR/CURATOR VS ARTIST

this is a great 2 year project from Vienna-based curator Miriam Kathrein. The project is based on the debate and visualisation of "...the relationship and shifting roles of artists and curators in contemporary art and the resulting consequences in art production. The latest work in this project is a collaboration with graphic designer Alva Unger, wherein three artist/curator pairs responded to selected texts that focus on notions of "expertise, authority, authorship, collaboration, intermediary, curator as artist, roles and competition"

Saltz and Deitch lecture

ica02
I was at this lecture a couple of months ago. It somehow clarified my fears about how art and the art world is going to be in the future. The PT designed the poster for the lecture at the ICA here in Philly. It is pretty good to hear a critic and a gallery owner come to similar conclusions about the future of art. Download here and enjoy.

Also today this piece sold for 80.4 millions dollars during a auction at Christie’s London.“Le Bassin aux NymphĂ©as” is one out of four Monet's most important pieces of his last period. I guess oil prices are not stopping some collectors. Read the article in the New york time art section.
